Getting started
What is Maurya Cinema?
A streaming service for films and series, with a focus on Bhojpuri, Hindi, Maithili and Magahi cinema. You can browse by genre or by language, and watch on the web or in our mobile app.
How much does it cost?
Watching is currently free. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you the price and what it includes before anything is charged.
Where can I watch?
In a web browser at mauryacinema.com, and in the Maurya Cinema mobile app. Use the same account on both — your profiles, “Continue watching” and “My List” follow you.
How do I create an account?
Choose Sign up and enter your email address and a password of at least 8 characters that includes a number. You must be 18 or older to create an account.
Account and sign-in
I forgot my password
Use Forgot password and enter your account email. We will send a reset link that works for one hour. Resetting your password signs you out everywhere else, which is also the quickest way to lock out anyone who knew your old one.
No email? Check your spam folder, and that you used the address you signed up with.
Can I change my email address?
Not in the app yet. Contact us and we will change it for you once we have confirmed the account is yours.
How do I delete my account?
Contact us and ask us to delete it. Once we have confirmed the account is yours, we delete your account and personal data within 30 days. See our Privacy Policy for your other rights.
I think someone else is using my account
Reset your password straight away — that signs out every other device — then let us know.
Profiles and parental controls
What are profiles?
Each account can have up to five profiles, so everyone at home gets their own “Continue watching”, “My List” and maturity limit. Manage them from Profiles.
How do I set up a profile for my child?
Create a profile and turn on Kids. A Kids profile shows only titles rated U. You can also give any profile a maturity limit, and it will only show and play titles at or below that rating.
Profiles are not PIN-protected, so make sure children use their own profile rather than an adult one.
What do the ratings mean?
Every title carries an age rating under India’s IT Rules, 2021:
- U — all ages
- U/A 7+ — 7 and above; younger children with parental guidance
- U/A 13+ — 13 and above; younger children with parental guidance
- U/A 16+ — 16 and above; younger viewers with parental guidance
- A — adults only
Watching
How do I find films in my language?
How does Continue watching work?
We remember where each profile stopped in each film or episode. Press Play (or Resume on a series) to pick up from there, on any device.
Can I change audio language or subtitles?
Where a title has more than one audio language or subtitles, choose them from the player’s settings while it plays.
What picture quality will I get?
Up to 1080p HD, depending on the title and your connection — the player adjusts quality automatically so playback does not stop. You can also pick a quality in the player’s settings.
The video will not play or keeps buffering
- Check your internet connection, and try a lower quality in the player’s settings.
- Refresh the page, or close and reopen the app.
- Make sure your browser or app is up to date.
- If the title says it is not available for this profile, its rating is above the profile’s maturity limit — switch to a profile that allows it.
Still stuck? Contact us with the title, your device and what you see on screen.
Downloads (mobile app)
Can I watch without internet?
Yes — in the mobile app, tap Download on a film’s page, then watch it from the Downloads tab with no connection. Downloads are saved inside the app, in 720p by default.
Can I download series episodes?
Not yet — downloads are available for films only for now.
Where are my downloads stored?
Inside the app’s own storage on your phone. They are deleted if you uninstall the app, and a downloaded film may stop playing if it leaves our catalogue.
