Terms of Use
Effective from 21 September 2026
1. Accepting these terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Maurya Cinema (“we”, “us”). They cover our website and our mobile app (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Children may watch only through a parent or guardian’s account, on a profile the parent or guardian has set up and supervises (see section 4).
The Service is offered for viewing in India. Titles available to you may vary, and some may be unavailable in some places.
3. Your account
- Give us a correct email address — it is how you sign in and how you recover your account.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account, including by anyone you let use it.
- Contact us straight away if you think someone has used your account without permission.
Your account is for your own household’s personal use. Do not sell, rent or publicly share access to it.
4. Profiles and parental controls
An account can have up to five profiles. Each profile has its own watch history, “My List” and maturity limit. A Kids profile shows only titles rated U by default.
Every title carries an age classification under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021:
| Rating | Suitable for |
|---|---|
| U | All ages |
| U/A 7+ | Viewers aged 7 and above, and younger children with parental guidance |
| U/A 13+ | Viewers aged 13 and above, and younger children with parental guidance |
| U/A 16+ | Viewers aged 16 and above, and younger viewers with parental guidance |
| A | Adults only (18+) |
Profiles are not locked with a PIN. Parental controls work only if the account holder sets each child’s profile to an appropriate limit and does not let children use adult profiles. Parents and guardians are responsible for what children in their care watch.
5. What you may watch, and how
We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to stream the titles on the Service for your private, non-commercial viewing while your account is in good standing. You do not acquire ownership of any title.
The catalogue changes over time: titles are added and removed, and their availability, audio languages and subtitles can change without notice. Picture quality depends on your connection, your device and the title, and is not guaranteed.
6. Downloads
Some movies can be downloaded in our mobile app to watch offline. Downloads are for personal viewing on that device only, stay inside the app, and are deleted if you uninstall it. A downloaded title may stop being available if it leaves the catalogue or your access changes. Episodes of series cannot be downloaded at present.
7. Plans and payments
Watching on Maurya Cinema is currently free. We do not ask for payment details today.
If we introduce paid plans, then before you are charged anything:
- the price, what the plan includes and the billing period will be shown to you, including applicable taxes (GST);
- payments will be processed by a payment partner — we will not see or store your full card details;
- you will be told whether a plan renews automatically, and how to cancel before the next renewal;
- refunds will follow the refund terms shown at purchase and the law applicable to you.
We will give you notice before changing the price of a plan you already have.
8. Acceptable use
When using the Service you agree not to:
- record, copy, download (other than through our app’s download feature), capture, redistribute or publicly perform any content;
- get around, disable or interfere with any security, access-control or content-protection feature;
- use bots, scrapers or other automated means to access the Service or collect data from it;
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer or create derivative works of the Service’s software, except where the law allows it;
- use the Service to break any law, or to harm, harass or defraud anyone;
- sell, rent or commercially share access to your account.
9. Content and intellectual property
The titles, artwork, logos, text and software on the Service belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. “Maurya Cinema” and its logos are our trademarks. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of these rights to you.
If you believe something on the Service infringes your rights, tell our Grievance Officer (section 15) with the details, and we will look into it.
10. Disclaimers
We work to keep the Service available and working well, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available on every device, or that any particular title will remain available.
The views expressed in any title are those of its creators, not ours.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
12. Your responsibility to us
If you break these Terms or the law while using the Service, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to compensate us for the reasonable losses and costs that result, to the extent the law allows.
13. Suspension and closing an account
You can stop using the Service at any time, and ask us to close your account and delete your data (see our Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, is used fraudulently, or where the law requires it. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
14. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. If we make a significant change to these Terms we will tell you — by email or on the Service — before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply to you.
15. Complaints and grievance redressal
In line with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, you can raise a complaint about any content on the Service, or about how the Service works. Complaints are handled by our Grievance Officer.
We will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days of receiving it. Please include your account email, the title concerned (if any) and a description of the issue.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any rights you have as a consumer, the courts in India have jurisdiction over disputes relating to them or to the Service.
